Viliam Malík was one of the first photographers to record – with the curiosity of a journalist and sensitivity of an artist – the daily lives of the inhabitants of Slovakia. Professionally active until the end of his life, the artist died in January 2012, a few months before his 100th birthday. This exhibition in the Slovak National Gallery is a tribute to the father of Slovak journalistic photography, whose works provide an excellent starting point for a reflection on the recent decades of contemporary history of the region.
