The Traces of Modernism. Quiet Revolutions in Ornament: Experiments in Decorative Art, 1880–1930

The Moravian Gallery, Brno
29 November 2012 – 24 March 2013

The Museum of Applied Arts, a branch of the Moravian Gallery, invites for an exhibition presenting the phenomenon of ornament. The temporal scope of the exhibition is quite wide as it spans five decades from the turn of the 20th century. At this time, ornaments were omnipresent not only in art but also in daily life. But the organisers’ approach to this historical and artistic phenomenon is thoroughly modern, as the principles of constructing ornaments will be illustrated with the use of modern multimedia technologies.
