John Cage was one of the most important 20th-century creators of music. His artistic experiments brought him fame not only in the West but also behind the Iron Curtain. He often visited the countries of the Eastern Bloc and his performances allowed him to establish contacts not only with musicians but also with representatives of other artistic disciplines. The exhibition in the Ludwig Museum – the Museum of Contemporary Art – is an artistic record of these visits as well as an attempt at showing the influence of Cage’s music on the art of Central Europe, which can still be observed today.
