Stanislav Podhrázský was one of the most important representatives of postwar surrealism in Czech art. His work encompasses the whole second half of the 20th century, which can be divided into several periods. In the opening phase of his work until the 1960s, he created large‑scale drawings, although later on he was more eager to speak through various painting techniques. He made female nudity a frequent subject of both his creations, captured in a particular context and presented in the convention of a dream, abundant in metaphors.
