Two covers of HERITO quarterly have been recognised by the jury of the eleventh edition of the prestigious “GRANDFRONT 2012” competition for the best front cover of the year organised by the Polish Chamber of Press Publishers. The cover of the seventh issue of HERITO was named the second best, while the cover of the eighth issue took the third place in in its category.
The person responsible for the design of both issues is Kuba Sowińskiwho created the original design of the quarterly and is the magazine’s permanent collaborator.
The award is Poland’s most important and prestigious distinction given to the creators of press design.
431 works were submitted for evaluation in this year’s edition and they competed in eight categories. The jury comprised of thirty experts on press design, including artistic directors, publishers, photographers and publishers. The jury’s decision was based on the submitted works meeting the following criteria: cohesion and coherence of the visual and textual components, quality of production as well as the graphic solutions in compliance with the profile of a given paper/magazine.
The bestowal ceremony took place on May 20, 2013 at the Royal Castle in Warsaw.
Mr. Bogdan Zdrojewski, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, had taken honorary patronage over the competition.
The two covers of HERITO as well as other awarded works will be displayed at the exhibition held at the seat of the Polish Journalists’ Association (Warsaw, Foksal 3/5) in June 2013. The digital versions of recognised works will also be presented in EMPIK stores.
