The Polish Chamber of Press Publishers has announced the recipients of the “GrandFront 2011” competition for the best front cover of the year.
Two issues of "Herito" quarterly - both designed by Kuba Sowiński - have been recognised by the jury. Issue No. 3 – “The city and the museum” has been named the second best in its respective category, while Issue No. 4 – “Art is changing (a) place” has been awarded an honourable mention.
“GrandFront 2011” is the 10th edition of the prestigious competition which every year names the best Polish press designs. It awards the covers of newspapers and magazines which in a given year have proved to be outstanding achievements as far as creativity, inventiveness, professionalism and high quality are concerned. It further wishes to single out the best graphic ideas carried out in the field of press graphic design as well as high quality of Polish editorial solutions.
472 front covers which competed in thirteen categories were submitted for evaluation in this year’s edition. The covers were submitted by 205 editorial teams, national as well as local and specialist press. The bestowal ceremony took place on May 22, 2012 at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. Mr. Bogdan Zdrojewski, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage had taken honorary patronage over the competition.
